What is a domain?
The domain name is part of the web address that traditionally identifies what type of business you are. Ie: .com and .net are often businesses, .gov for government, .org for 501c non profit groups. There are newer ones coming out as the web has billions of registered domain names. When thinking of a domain name for your business, don't make it too difficult to type. Also remember ALL the words will be running together... be careful which words you place next to each other. Have a back up. Like emails, your domain name idea may already be taken, so don't put it on your business cards until after you have it secured.
We can use a domain name you already own or have Weebly or HostGator secure a .com, .net, or .org. Should you choose to remain with a "free" web host, you will have a subdomain.

Subdomains:
A subdomain is when you go through a host and don't outright buy a domain. The trade-off for a "free" website is they have their host name in the domain address and usually at the bottom of the page as an advert. So instead of holliberridesigns.com, ours reads holliberridesigns.weebly.com
What is a host?
A host is a web server that stores your website for use. They have all capabilities to keep your website secure and backed up in multiple locations pending any type of disaster.
Weebly and HostGator:
Holli~Berri Designs prefers working with Weebly and HostGator. We have been working with them since 2009 and have had amazing experiences with their customer service. There are multiple plans available based on your needs. Hosting plans start at free (with minor limited capabilities), with pricing plans from $5-$25 per month. Both are always ranked in the top 5 for web hosting sites. We have yet to have an incident with a website on either. Weebly has free sites, where as HostGator has monthly premiums. Depending on what you need your site for, you may HAVE to have a professional page. All e-commerce requires a business package from any web host, usually costing around $25/mo. Please feel free to contact me before choosing a host if you do not know which one to choose. Both offer different design abilities. Depending on what you are wanting for your site, I may be able to save you some money in monthly fees.
If you are using a different host, please ask if we are able to help you. There are a couple of web hosts we will not work with due to their poor technical support and the lack of structural varieties causing websites to look outdated and, essentially, like html coded sites from the 90's without the difficult coding.
